Summit8th April we eated good lunch in ABC. 4pm we went to C1. Me and Radek were there in 3:30hour. Petr came 1hour later. He decided - do not go for summit before, but he want to help us(cooking..). Next day morning Petr wake up earlier and cooked the breakfast. So, we started at 10am to C2. After 3:15hour we were there. Our best time so far.

First try without succesWhat was the plan? After few days storm, we can see with binoculars, that our C3 is blowing out. We decided, that we will go our summit attempt from C2. Plan was 3rd. May- C1, 4th.- C2, 5th.- Summit. And how was it in truth: 3rd. of May afternoon we start our attempt. That day we went to C1 and there we sleep.

Stop 50m from C2 !!19th. April we went again up in C1. Our aklimatization was better so we done it in about 4 hours(1hour faster, than first time). This day we sleep there. So after comming up and cook the dinner we were bored- next time we start later. The night was cold and because sunrise in west face is around 9:30 Chinese time.

18th. April- waiting for PetrWe must change our plan. Yesterday was hole afternoon and night heavy snowfall. So, today morning we clean our tents from snow. And we are sitting again in tent and reading newspapers. In the afternoon should come our last member Petr in the ABC.

C1 6400Yesterday 16th. April me and Radek build tent on the ridge in 6400m. Dutch team said 6 hours to C1. But when I come there after 5hours Radek almost had place for the tent ready. All other teams member said that is really nice place, but no one use it. May be, because on one side is 400m vertical slope.

We are still in ABCToday we want to start with climmbing up to C1. But.. Building our ABC take longer time, than we expected. So, today we organise our material for C1. What for surprise was, that the tent for C1 is only for 2 people. We will use later for C3.. We hope, that we spend less time there and so we don't need so much comfort. We also prepare our DMM crampons, that we have from Mammut. But to fix antiballing plates for this crampons, take a lot of mental strength. And I am the youngest in our team.

ABCToday is 13th.April and we are in ABC in 5600m. What is hapened since our last message. Our third member Petr Vavrys went on lower altitiude, because he had high altitude sickness. Since 6th. April we are in contact with him only via cell phone, but last 2 days we received from him only numbers and letters without any sence. But until we received something, we know, that he is on live. Me and Radek and Manfred(our treker)went proposal program- from Nyalam to Tingri.

Expedition CHO-OYUMembers: Radek Jaros(team leader), Martin Koukal, Petr Vavrys. We flight from Vienna 1st. of April to Kathmandu. We arrived in night. Next day we maked all necessary paper work. And of course we visit our hair dresser. So now we are all bold. 3rd. of April we left Kathmandu. We drove to Zhang Mu. It was little adventure, because in Nepal were strikes and road blokades. But finaly we reach Zhang Mu and after 2 hours paper work on border we entered "Big country" China or better autonoumos region Tibet.

Expedice CRAFT Cho-Oyu [27.03.2003, 17:55]
WE GO ON CHO-OYUHi friends. After couple months sitting home we start new expedition. We go on CHO- OYU 8201m. Again small team, but with new members. Team leader is Radek Jaros really experienced climmber(see this page). And than two new member. First is Martin Koukal- World Champion in cross-country skiing 2003, also trekker by Kangchenjunga expedition 2002 ans Huascaran 2000 and second is Petr Vavrys former member Czech national team in orienteering.
